I have a job doing a Sheffield valance (81" wide) and my customer prefers the look of a straighter jabot than the more curved one included with the pattern. My question is, can I use the jabot from the Designer Pole Swag pattern and alter it to have 3 folds rather than 4? Will that look too skimpy on such a wide valance?
Thanks!

The jabot on the Sheffield is separate from the valance, yes, you can switch to any jabot you want. Your idea sounds fine. I would recommend doing a mock up to see if you like the effect.

FAQ: What is the difference between the Sheffield and the Imperial Valance?
ANSWER: The Sheffield has a box pleat (straight all the way down). The Imperial has a "horn". A horn has a tapered shape, smaller at the top.

OK, I altered it to have 3 pleats instead of 4 and it looks great. It measures 8 inches across the front of the board. What do I deduct from the scallops?
Thanks!

You can leave it 8" wide if you want to, or you can cut some off the width to create a more narrow jabot. You should allow for the scallop section to place under the jabot at least about 2"

So if I leave it at 8" for the jabot, deduct 6" from each end of the board for the scallops?

Yes, that is correct.

So just to triple check before I cut into the $75 yard fabric.... I am deducting 12" from the 81 inch board to arrive at 69?

Your math appears to be correct.
