I have a pending job in which I am attempting to use your medallion swag pattern and install 4 swags on a flat cornice board which will be slightly tufted. Does it really matter if I cut the swags on the bias or the straight of the fabric?? I have plenty of fabric without any matching of patterns involved. Would also love to have your opinion as to whether you think this idea of attaching them to the straight cornice will work. I am planning to screw the knobs directly into the 1/2" plywood frame.

It is always better to cut swags on the bias if you possibly can (especially small swags). They will hang much smoother. If you don't want your face fabric cut on the bias, at least cut the lining on the bias. How do you plan to attach the swags to the knobs?

Looking at the Medallion swag pattern and reading the info, it looked like they just hang over the knob which is inserted perpendicular to the board (or wall). The knobs will have at least a 2" post (or longer is an extension is needed).

Your post will need to be about 3" for the swags to have room to lay over them. If you don't plan for a jabot to sew to the end swag, you will need to finish it off as per a "Point to Point" swag. Instructions for that are not in the Medallion Swag pattern, they are in our manual. Another way to attach swags to the cornice (without using knobs), is to wrap a ribbon around the seams, attach the ribbon to the top of the board. If not using jabots, the end swag you could simply stack the pleats and lay flat against the board. A band or ribbon would attach on top.
