Hello.
Is there a different pattern from the standard Kingston pattern #9101 that allows you to make the swag depth of a Kingston valance to be 24"?
If not, does the Empire Valance #9234 give you the same look as the smaller classic Empire, but just have the option for deeper swags? The photos tend to make the "larger empire" look a little more fancy, but I just want the classic look with the deeper swags.
Thank you so much. Have a good weekend! Anne

Yes, the 9234 does give a more ornate look than the 9001 Empire Valance. We have a DVD for the 9101 (revised 2007) Kingston that shows you how to alter the depth. Alteration instructions are also in our Workroom Manual, but the DVD would be a better choice.

Can you tell me the price of the DVD? And when you say manual....that is not just the Kingston pattern, correct?

The DVD is order #9109V, it is 34.95. The Workroom Manual is a book, look it up on our website, #7006.

I now have the Elegant Empire and am figuring my cuts, etc. The smaller windows are 36", so when I deduct 10" for the returns it seems as if 1 swag would be what I would want. However, I am worried that this will not look right and lose some of the beauty of the Empire. When I was figuring before for the Classic Empire and Kingston, I was going to have 2 for these windows and 5 for the 99" window.
Your thoughts?
Thank you. anne

The 9234 Elaborate Empire swag will look the same when using one, as it will with 5. It is most important that your swag sections be as close to the same size on all windows as possible. One swag on your 36" window will be 26". 5 swags on the 99" window would be 17.8". That is too much difference. It may be best if your large window has 3 or 4 swags instead of 5. Narrow swags give a more ornate, formal look. Wider swags give a more tailored look, less ornate. The difference between 26" and 22 or 29 will not show up as much different, but 26 and 17 will.

I understand. It was 2 and 5 originally when I was going with the classic or Kingston. But then I had to switch to the Elegant because I needed a 24" swag depth. I was mainly questioning the single swag.
I definitely would want them to be fairly close in width and was figuring 1 at 26" width and 3 @ 29" or 4 @ 22" (I would prefer the wider to have it less formal.....can I adjust the pattern for the swag width to be 29", as the pattern only goes to 28"?).
Thank you.

You are right, it does not go to 29". No, width alterations do not work. You would need to go with 4 @ 22.25".
