First time doing a Cornice of this size....
146"x 21" Cornice Board and have several questions. I will be able to transport and get it into the home in one piece.
-What should board be made of: plywood?, OSB, White Board?
-Batting: What type do you use? Rowley Cornice Batting? Dacron?
-Installation: would you use L-brackets, angle irons?

Hi Murphy,
With a cornice of that size, I would try to keep the weight down as much as possible, as to the lumber you use. The batting would depend on how plush you want the face to look. The lumber and items used may often need to vary with each job. The usual installation is to use L-brackets (installed in a stud if possible), screw them to the wall first. Then (with help) set the cornice on top of them. Screw the cornice to the brackets from underneath.

For the frame I'd recommend the 1/2" cornice foam board from Rowley. Very light weight and you can screw 1X2 inside for added strength. If you could hinge the board without fabric compromised I've has success with that too.
