Hello, I want to make blackout grommet panels and a valance for my 5 yr old granddaughter. She picked a fabric with a very large display area. I will need to mount valance on 1x8. I purchased your workroom manual lately to help me with panels. I have a few questions : 1) would any of the valances on decorative hold backs such as the summerhouse work with such s large return? 2) is the jabot on the la Bella suitable for 8" mounting board? 3) I am also considering Queen Ann- would this be best option? Thx so much, I love the workroom manual and other patterns I have purchased. I just home sewer but you have helped me so much. P.S. Idea for new supplement -- bedding for daybed. That's actually why I purchased the manual.
Again, thx so much, Sue

All of the valances you mentioned will work for a large return. If the pattern doesn't show that much, simply extend it. If you use hold backs for mounting the valance, make sure the post is long enough to extend 8". I am puzzled by why you want grommet panels since the top will be covered by the valance. Have you considered using a rod or pole that will need less projection for the valance?
